Job Objective
- To identify children with Speech, Language and Communication delays/disorders. To provide support for these needs, thus ensuring that all children in RAIS School reach their full potential.
Duties & Responsibilities
- To manage and prioritise a defined caseload and work with an appropriate degree of autonomy and independence, with regular support/supervision, with children on the school's learning support register.
- To deliver training to enhance the skills of the wider workforce around speech, language, and communication.
- To identify, assess and diagnose communication impairments and select appropriate patients and type of therapy for effective treatment.
- To assess, develop and implement speech and language therapy treatment and discharge as appropriate. To make a differential diagnosis on the basis of evidence from assessment, and design appropriate treatment based on analysis of profile of need seeking advice as appropriate.
- To develop clinical skills and professional knowledge through experience, training, and supervision.
- To take part in the supervision of students with support.
- To take part in supervision of the work of SaLT Assistants and volunteers when required.
Education
Essential
- B.Sc./MSc Degree in recognised Speech & Language Therapy (Pathology) (at a minimum of 2nd class honours lower division (2:2))
Desirable
- Medical Rehabilitation Therapist Board Licence to Practice (Nigeria).
- Health Professions Council Licence to Practice (Foreign).
- Additional qualifications in AAC.
Others
- Possession of NYSC (National Youth Service Corps) Certificate/Exemption Letter.
- Possession of Professional Certifications.
Experience
- Minimum of five years’ post registration practice and experience of supporting primary age children with a range of needs (ideally an international school).
- Knowledge of a range of paediatric clinical disorders, assessments and appropriate therapeutic interventions.
- Relevant experience of assessment and intervention in children.
- Should be a person of high integrity and excellent character.
- Not more than 45 years old as at December 31, 2024.
Desirable
- Knowledge and understanding of the philosophy and set up of inclusive education units.
- Evidence of working in a multi-disciplinary team.
Reporting Line
- Functionally and administratively reports to the Deputy Head (Academics)
Working Hours
- 7.30am-4.30pm Monday to Friday
